Situated in the charming town of Pennington, NJ, BORO Restaurant | Bar presents a sophisticated culinary journey that masterfully blends contemporary American dining with Italian inspirations. This vibrant yet inviting locale doubles as a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, market, and catering provider, making it a versatile destination for both casual lunches and memorable dinner dates.
The menu at BORO is a celebration of carefully crafted dishes that spotlight fresh, high-quality ingredients and vibrant flavors. For starters, indulge in the Beef Carpaccio or the Charcuterie Board—perfect for sharing while enjoying a cocktail like their expertly mixed Martini or a selection from their curated beer list. Their salads are particularly noteworthy: the Grilled Romaine with Gruyere and House Made Caesar delivers a smoky, cheesy crunch, while the Little Gem lettuce with edamame, feta, and prosecco vinaigrette offers a refreshing, tangy finish that lingers pleasantly on the palate.
For mains, BORO offers an array that caters to all taste preferences, from the luxurious Spaghetti Carbonara with truffle cream and prosciutto to the hearty Pappardelle with short rib and burgundy sauce. Not to be missed are their expertly prepared seafood dishes—scallops that diners rave as “mini scallop bakes” and perfectly cooked Branzino that melts effortlessly with each bite. Meat lovers will appreciate the tender, full-flavored Rib Eye Steak and the satisfying Cheesesteak, both rich and deeply comforting.
Beyond the main courses, the sides add exquisite depth and texture to any meal. The Truffle Pommes Frites are crispy yet decadently infused with a subtle mushroom earthiness. The Crispy Brussels Sprouts with fish sauce and pepitas balance sweet, savory, and nutty flavors, creating a side dish that demands attention. Vegan diners are cared for as well, with options like the Butternut Squash Tempura and Cavatelli with cashew crème and roasted tomato, all bursting with bright, fresh ingredients that are as thoughtfully composed as the rest of the menu.
The atmosphere at BORO is equally compelling. It effortlessly combines sleek modernity with warm Italian market vibes, creating a clean, stylish space that feels both approachable and special. The buzz of the market and coffee shop adds a lively, community-focused energy by day, while the restaurant and bar exude an intimate, sophisticated ambiance come evening. Whether it’s a casual lunch of their famed Turkey Club Panini or a celebratory dinner featuring their luxurious seafood and pasta offerings, their attentive service and inviting setting elevate every visit into a memorable experience.
Guests consistently praise BORO for its thoughtful menu and welcoming atmosphere. One enthusiastic diner described their chicken cutlet sandwich—a delightful medley of provolone, broccoli rabe, sautéed onions, and garlicky aioli—as “phenomenal,” capturing the essence of BORO’s elevated comfort food. Others celebrate the imaginative take on classic dishes and the impressive cocktail selection, highlighting that every visit feels like a well-curated, personal indulgence.

It’s a place where you can savor inspired dishes, immerse yourself in a tasteful environment, and return with the delightful discovery of new favorite flavors each time.
This review is for the Market experience only. Will definitely be returning to try out the restaurant and bar experience. Got a chicken culet sandwich with provolone, broccoli rabe, sauteed onions, and garlic aioli... it was phenomenal. vibe was modern Italian in a very clean space with a great looking market/cafe style menu with some items to purchase to take home like at a classic Italian market. Service was a little lackluster, staff didn't really seem to care to do their jobs well, they were polite but seemed like they didn't care to be there... where is the hospitality nowadays.
Great food, service and atmosphere…the scallops and crispy fried chicken for starters were excellent and the land & sea for the main was delicious. Nice cocktails too!
I have had food catered from BORO & always wanted to give it a try! So I did. The parking lot was full, there was just one spot left when we arrived at dinner time. They have decent vegetarian/vegan items on the menu. We ordered carrots with coconut cream, but couldn't really taste the coconut, potatoes with a dip on the side & pesto pasta. Each item was tasty. We got creme brulee for dessert which was very creamy in texture. Overall a good experience, there was a waiting period of 10-15 mins even after we had made reservations but the food came super fast! I got Crime of Passion, a cocktail while we waited at the door for our order, wish there was some waiting area. This place is in a rather unconventional location but worth a try!
Great spot for a date! My husband and I went here for a lunch date and had such a great time. The food and drinks were amazing. The atmosphere is great. I have had so many friends posting on social media about this spot so I knew we had to go and it stood up to the hype.
The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the creative take on scallops was delightful, almost like a mini scallop bake. The Branzino was cooked perfectly. My only small note is that the grilled Caesar could be served on a chilled plate, but that didn’t take away from the overall experience. I’m so glad this spot is in town!
Had reservations with a friend on Friday at 6:30pm and was seated right away. Staff were very friendly. Interior temperature seemed to fluctuate a bit, and didn't really enjoy the fan blowing in my face lol. Got 2 cocktails with my meals and both were excellent. Not sweet at all, refreshing, and perfectly boozy. There's complimentary bread that's served at the table and while it's not warmed up, it was delicious bread and butter. For apps we got the arancini and it was fantastic, great flavor and texture. We also got the scallop casino which was an absolute banger, really liked the bacon, pepper, onion combo. For entree I got the linguini chili crunch shrimp. I really enjoyed the housemade pasta it had excellent texture and flavor. The sherry cream was delightful. However that chili crunch had almost a BBQ flavor to it which was excellent with just the shrimp but odd combination with the sherry cream. I opted to eat them separately as to not mix the flavors. For dessert we got the marscapone brownie which was delicious.
One of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time! The cocktails were divine along with the starters, entrees, dessert, and dessert cocktails. Our server Abby was amazing
